Northern Baseball Teams to Split From BBF

After a meeting between the Northern Conference Teams on 7th January in Leeds, a decision was made by all bar Cartmel Valley Lions to not affiliate with the BBF for the coming 2017 season.

For a long time it has been felt that baseball in the North has been underrepresented and lacked support, so with this decision a new Northern League is to be formed, supported by a Northern Committee, to develop teams, support and unify the league.

Presently there are 11 teams slated to compete in this coming season, with potentially a 12th in Nottingham taking the place of Oldham North Stars, who sadly look like they will not be taking part this year.

For the Spartans, this means superficially that there will be no change to the games we play, or the teams we play against, barring possibly Nottingham joining the League, for the coming season. All of the fixtures will be posted on here once finalised and on our Facebook page too.

Here’s a link to an unaffiliated external site with an excellent overview of the news.
